The Future is (Almost) Here – How MIT Students Are Turning the Internet Into a Sixth Sense

Wired Magazine has a great article on an MIT project that uses a projecting-device worn around a person’s neck to project relevant data about the world around you. I (and everyone else reviewing the idea) find it interesting but not as practical as the internet sunglasses in Neal Stephenson’s Snowcrash (still waiting for that) – who wants everyone else to see the details of your google search projected on everything you look at? Seems like there could be potential for interactive advertising (installations) or education (museums) though – can’t wait to see what’s done with it. Check out the example videos – my favorite is the virtual wristwatch!
